Please help control the pet population problem and have your companion animals spayed or neutered.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a soft spot in my heart for animals. My affection started early with our family’s dogs. I considered a career in the animal industry but instead obtained a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Alvernia College. After working as a correctional officer for 14 years and owning and running a tavern, I stumbled upon a journey of self discovery. Early in the process I decided I could no longer contribute to the unnecessary suffering of animals and became vegan. It has been one of the best decisions of my life. After selling the tavern I made a decision to leave my job at the prison and follow a more fulfilling path. At first I worked at Starbucks but eventually decided to become a certified dog trainer. Shortly after completing the course work to become a trainer, I experienced a personal tragedy which would forever change my life. In the midst of caring for myself following the event, a colony of feral cats showed up around my house. As a way to combat the cat population problem, I learned about a program called trap-neuter-release (TNR). As an outgrowth of learning how to care for these cats Spiritual Haven Animal Sanctuary (501c3 non-profit) was created in July of 2014. I love working at the sanctuary, but it is expensive so I needed to find a way to pay the bills while still supporting it. I wanted to find something meaningful that would grow my interests and talents. As I considered what to do I was reminded my pet sitter was getting ready to retire. I asked her if she would help me get started in the industry. In August of 2015 Kel’s Pet Sitting was born where your pets get experienced, professional, and loving care.
